Third Global Report on SDG 16: Peaceful, Just, and Inclusive Societies

This side event of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly launched the Third Global Report on SDG 16: Peaceful, Just, and Inclusive Societies, produced by OHCHR, UNDP, and UNODC. Among the key findings of the report were that conflict and violence remains high; women continue to be underrepresented across public service, the judiciary, and national legislatures; and the right to access public information is now legally guaranteed in 139 countries. As well as presenting findings, the event discussed initiatives and reaffirmed SDG 16 as vital for resilient, just societies.

Launch of the Global Commission on Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking's Landmark Report

This high-level event, convened at the UN Headquarters by the Global Commission on Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking, launched a landmark report presenting comprehensive findings and recommendations addressing the global challenges of modern slavery and human trafficking. Also unveiled at the event was a new Framework of Analysis prevention tool to help NGOs and civil society organizations (CSOs) identify and mitigate the risks of this pervasive violation of human rights. The meeting's co-sponsors were the Permanent Missions of the United Kingdom and the Kingdom of Bahrain to the UN.
